Weave a Quiet Star
into a Busy Life

One strand of yarn, around one point.
Another strand, returning in a different direction.

There is no need to know
what the finished star will look like.

Simply stay with the circle in front of you,
and complete it with care.

Sometimes, Our Hands Know
How to Slow Down Before Our Minds Do

Star Flower uses yarn to weave
an eight-pointed star.

The repeated movements,
the quiet focus,
and the colours gradually taking shape,
circle by circle,

gently bring our scattered attention
back to our hands,
and back to ourselves.

It is more than something we make.

It is also a little time
in which nothing needs to be answered.

You Don't Need to See
the Whole Star at Once

Some days, we want to find the answer more quickly,
sort out our feelings more quickly,
and become the person we hope to be more quickly.

But weaving does not hurry you.

It simply asks you to notice the next point,
place the yarn carefully,
and continue with the next round.

Perhaps some things
do not need to make sense all at once.

They, too, can slowly take shape.

Which Color
Would You Like to Begin with Today?

There is no standard color combination,
and no choice that is more correct than another.

Sometimes we choose a color we love.

Sometimes we choose the color
we feel we need at this moment.

And sometimes, a ball of yarn simply seems to say:

“Today, look at me.”

Choose one color and begin.

Let the rest unfold
as the piece slowly takes shape.

Leave the Words You Want to Keep
at the Heart of the Star

A wish, a name,
or a few words you want to remember.

Some words disappear into the air
soon after they are spoken.

Others, when surrounded
by circle after circle of yarn,
stay with us a little longer.

This star can be made for someone you care about.

Or for yourself,
who has been doing your best all along.

A Wrong Turn
Doesn't Undo Everything Before It

Sometimes the yarn goes in the wrong direction.

Sometimes we pull it a little too tightly.

Sometimes we reach halfway
and realise it doesn't look the way we imagined.

We can undo it and begin again.

Or we can pause and wonder:

Could this unexpected turn
lead the piece somewhere new?

The weaving does not judge you.

It simply asks, quietly:

“How would you like to continue from here?”

Everyone Has
Their Own Rhythm

Some people move quickly.

Some like to pause and check as they go.

Some love bright, vivid colours.

Others would rather stay
within a quiet shade of blue.

We do not need to weave
identical stars.

When every star is allowed
to keep its own character,

together,
they become a sky full of stars.

May You Always Have a Star
to Return to in a Busy World

When life moves too quickly,
come back and weave another round.

Let your hands slow down.

Let your breath deepen.

And gently place yourself,
just as you are in this moment,
between one strand and the next.
Bring Star Flower to Your Organization

When You Find Your Own Star,
You Can Help Light the Way for Others

Perhaps at first,
you simply wanted to weave a star for yourself.

Then, little by little, you may discover
that these circles of yarn
can do more than create a quiet moment for you.

They can also accompany someone else
as they slow down, focus,
and reconnect with themselves
in the midst of a busy life.

If you wish,
you can take the next step
from creator to facilitator,

and bring this experience of
focus, creativity and good wishes
to more people.

About Star Flower

Star Flower was created by Carmen Lo, founder of Mindful Art Academy.

Inspired by traditional yarn-weaving practices, Star Flower brings together an eight-pointed structure, creative work at the centre of the star, intentional use of colour, and rhythmic, repetitive weaving.

Through this focused making process, participants are invited to slow down, settle their attention, and spend time with themselves in the present moment.

Each Star Flower can hold a personal intention, a meaningful message or a wish for wellbeing, becoming a creative reminder of what matters to the person who made it.
